    Hi Folks

This may have been done before as a bit of fun.

I thought whilst riding home yesterday, what would the drafting of a 21st century bit of Legislation on travelling by wheels in town look like? Given the nature of the beast nowadays?

    EG

    1) When driving a taxi, chelsea tracktor, non LRT bus, white van, delivery van etc, You must ensure you remind all other road users of your complete entitlement to throw away the law and rulebook and drive as you see fit in a manner that best suits your mood.

    2) When encountering pedestrians and other road users, ensure that you disregard their safety in order to gain tiny advantages in distance and time, especially in congested city centers and routes to and through them.

    3) Always remember NEVER to think about looking in the direction you are steering your vehicle, make sure you use a mobile telephone, do your makeup, argue with your spouse, passengers or children whilst speeding.

    4) If you are not a proficient or considerate cyclist, then ensure you never pay heed to traffic signals, other cyclists or the people you may injure, or simply help cause your injury or death.

Please feel free to add in your gems and nuggets of wisdom and mirth.... R :-)

For 3) you can add, drink your takeway coffee* with one hand while driving (witnessed yesterday).

    * - other beverages or foodstuffs may be substituted, the more inappropriate/unwieldy the better.

Regards no 3. I often drink whilst I'm driving (not in the alcoholic sense ;) )

I also do it whilst I am cycling, except from a bidon, rather than a can.

5ish) Upon finally noticing the ambulance with the blue lights and sirens filling up your rear windscreen, the appropriate actions are either a) do nothing whilst raising one's hands in a somewhat French manner, b)stop immediately and without warning in the centre of the lane, or c) feign left and then suddenly spear right into oncoming traffic.

@Baldcyclist, aye but do you clutch your Costly coffee in your hand whilst attempting to also hold the steering wheel with the same hand, at the same time as you are trying to negotiate a tricky junction? (Witnessed yesterday).

    6) Putting your flashers on gives access to any bus or cycle lane for parking, over-rides any parking restrictions or regulations and negates the need to give due consideration to others by safe parking

    7) The correct position to make a right hand turn at the exit to a street is the extreme left of the lane; vice-versa.

7b) It's absolutely fine to turn left or right without ever indicating. Especially if I cyclist is coming up on your inside/outside.

7c) When turning left or right, you must take the racing line, even if you are not going that fast

(I blame this on 'lazy steering')

    Aye,
You must never indicate left when you're about to turn left from Westfield Road onto Gorgie Road (at Aldi)- just keep those bloody cyclists waiting to turn right onto Gorgie road thinking that you're going straight on to Aldi or McDonalds!

When turning right into a side street, it is best to cut the corner and drive on the wrong side of the road in order to save 0.5 second. In Bingham.

7d) When turning left in a commercial vehicle, feel free to mount the pavement on the corner of the junction in order to save a few seconds and keep forward momentum without needing to slow down too much. If there are any pedestrians waiting to cross or cyclists carrying straight on, well they've seen you haven't they? If they cannot respect your greater right of way due to greater size and height then they should behave themselves!
