    As seen here

Lot of discussion today on blogging -

    "
I sometimes wonder about trying a blog - but I'm not sure what I would say.

One more blogger (and more frequent posts from other <cough> people who have been known to <blush> blog about cycling in their area) added to all the other factors, just adds to the weight. Say it even if someone else says it better.

Some people like Blogger, inc. SRD and Andrew Burns.

Don't know what software Dave uses.

I prefer Wordpress - usually the free hosted version, though there is also software for hosting it 'yourself' giving more control. (Like CCE - BBPress is related to WordPress).

    I'm sure http://myblogaboutcyclinginedinburghandotherthings.wordpress.com is available.

There are apps for most phones/tablets -

Many free "themes" to suit your style -

This is JP's free-hosted but with a paid for URL

    These are (some of) mine.

    PM for any advice.

    Well, that's me told... :-)

My boyfriend has a wordpress site (with a paid for url) for his business - it runs off the blogging software and he writes a blog on it.

I'm an IT person in real life so I should be able to manage the technicalities of creating a blog (b/f doesn't ask me for help with his any more, although I did help out a bit to start with).

Maybe I'll give it a go, if I can find the time...

Well http://wisob.wordpress.com/ has been rambling away for a bit, and I've finally got round to creating a @wisob1 twitter feed (wisob was already taken), to tweet when I add a post, and followed lots of cycling type tweeters with it.

I'm debating changing my username to wisob on here as well, but I've used fimm on several forums over the years and I'm quite attached to it...

Internet handles and pseudonyms are curious appellations. Sometimes you get to know someone by their handle rather than their real life name, and it becomes difficult to make that extra connection.

If being called fimm is comfortable, why change?

That sounds like a good reason not to. I was just wondering about connecting the blog with the person who posts here. But I don't think I'll bother.

I meant to add that I found setting up a blog in Wordpress very straightforward, and so far I've had no technical issues with it.
