Next they'll be saying that the quoted fuel efficiencies are a fix too! If you can't trust carmakers, who can you trust?

Doesn't ALL sales literature mislead it's target audience?
Fags aren't cool, ISA's don't make you money, cars don't run on empty roads, Flakes aren't heavenly, bicycles aren't maintenance free, 2 for 1 makes you spend not save money, rising house prices are not good, pills can't make you grow 15% etc etc

Lets not forget the sales literature from the shamworks Via the Scotsman..
“At the end of this year all of the construction, the big construction, will be cleared and the trams will be tested all over the city and folk are going to start saying ‘why can’t we get on yet’!”5th March - Cllr Burns....

In other news, water is wet, and ursines defecate in arboreal areas... It's been going on for years in one way or another - one company (Audi, I think) used to fill the boot with water to try and make it appear more capacious.
Funnily enough, on the news this morning I heard an Archbishop say "the Pope is Catholic". I always find the Today program verges on the surreal half the time.

It's been acknowledged for years that the official tests don't reflect real life, even without chicanery on the part of the manufacturers. And as for the anti-pollution measures that perhaps work under lab conditions but which actually increase the fuel consumption by a significant margin - well.
