Could have put this in the Tram Latest thread.

    But deserves its own.

A £1 MILLION war-chest to repair Edinburgh’s tramworks-battered reputation is being readied, the Evening News can reveal.

The seven-figure-sum will bankroll a marketing campaign designed to lure people back to the city centre – after five years of disruption.

Those behind the promotional blitz claim it is the biggest ever seen in the Capital and one that will effectively “relaunch” the city centre, driving footfall and shoppers back.

Wonder if any money will pay for 'free parking after 5:00' (again).

Maybe there will be leaflets showing where the cycle parking is.

Maybe they can just go down the old fashioned route of handing out fivers to everyone who gets off the Tram on Princes Street. By the time they're running inflation should leave that fiver at about the value of a bottle of coke.

You have to hand it to Essential Edinburgh, they sure know how to get a lot of funding and spend it on absolutely nothing worthwhile at all.
