£75 a ticket for adults. Won't be going on that in a hurry then.

Child tickets also £40 or £50... Even if said child is only 5 months old.

Think we'll go and wave instead!

It's easy enough to make an estimate but does anyone know why a pass time isn't listed for South Gyle?

Also is it coming back by Edinburgh Park?

Caught it on the way in at Portobello. They'd disabled the puff to go under Milton Road but switched it back on just after passing underneath.

Good spot, nobrakes! I went to Heriot to see the second of today's runs to Tweedbank, but missed it by about ten minutes.

    Last weekend:

    Smoking in Shawfair

and yesterday in Inverkeithing, with a lot of steam going out of the safety valve.

So disappointing when the steam engine isn't really doing the work. Puts me off going.

The diesel is only pulling it back the way where it can't be turned. We can blame Transport Scotland for building a Borders Railway with no facilities at the terminus to turn the loco or even change ends, and then accepting a franchise bid that specifically capitalised on the opportunities to run steam specials on said line.

Annoyingly was out in the garden at 1400 and heard it chuff past on the South Sub and realised I'd missed it. Plan to go to Morningside Station to see it come by on the way back to Edinburgh.

Well that was good. Got to Bruce Street one minute before it passed, with Micro- and Mini-Greenroofer. Mini-Greenroofer was affecting pre-teen insouciance at the whole venture. Bruce Street is a good spot at track level, and as the train approached, with the usual steam-train drama and clouds of exhaust emphasised by the cool evening and the gradient, Mini-Greenroofer broke into a wide grin, made even wider when she got a wave from the footplate crew.

The 94-year-old engine will haul excursions from Edinburgh round Fife and along the Forth via Stirling on Sunday, 14 May.

Steam-hauled by A4 Class no 60009 Union of South Africa
    Sunday 7th May 2017

We are sorry to announce that these steam specials have been cancelled.

60009 Union of South Africa suffered a mechanical failure a few days ago. j

Unfortunately it has not been possible to obtain clearance for an alternative steam locomotive to haul these excursions.

Customers who have booked are being contacted as soon as possible

Shame. I was looking forward to getting an A4 fix at the weekend.

Fingers crossed I can get an A3 fix this weekend. Nearly as good as an A4 fix.

How do you plan to win that argument?
