Ah, so race is a retrospective term on an Audax then. If you finish first you were racing and other wise "Honest Guv, I wasn't racing." ;-)

I believe convention dictates that if one comes in towards the front a suitable excuse is needed, i.e. "had to keep moving or my leg would cramp up", "needed back at the house to put the kids to bed", or the classic "thought I was at the back" etc.

I may have inadvertently thrown away the challenge by being stupid and following SatNav....

I did think at the time, what, this way, really? But carried on regardless, oops.

Fear not Uberuce, I also came in at standard commuting pace; you were not alone in that regard. I may have been alone in terms of unexpectedly turning up, but kudos to the organisers who had spare t-shirts on hand for mavericks such as myself.

Thanks Kenny. With these events you become aware of all the imbalances between comparing 'modes of transport'.
Ideally we would have had more female participants. Only three out of sixteen. No ethnic variety.
Chdot is going to post times or pic of boards.

Result 'proves' (unfortunately) that driving hasn't been disadvantaged particularly - although this was pre-rush hour. Public transport has changed but still slow. Lack of 'zone card' for Edinburgh is long overdue.

Was very pleased that we had Lauren with her s/h 3 speed Pashley. She used train to take her bike out to Newcraighall too. Point here is that she arrived in her normal clothes just as if she had walked.
    Is speed of commute everything?

Thanks to the City Car Club and Baldycyclist we were using electric and hybrid vehicles. Debate on these will go on. Arellcat did think about using her 'car with human power' Quest Carbon velomobile.

    Results just in -

Great, great morning (weather made it even better).

Mr. LB omitted to mentioned that he designed and co-ordinated the production of the boards and T-Shirts (and got most of the participants organised and co-ordinated).

I did a small web site
