starting meadows, and heading out and back to Glenkinchie via all the offroad network. Any help appreciated.

Cyclestreets gives the route more-or-less that you seem to be asking for:

It's possible to avoid the Ormiston section if the surface would be an issue by going through Cousland (a bit hillier).

The Esk to Pencaitland mostly offroad bit is here. Glenkinchie is just further down the railway path
