For those of you who are members of the Cycling Embassy of Great Britain (or thinking of joining, or just generally supportive) - we're having our annual gathering in Newcastle on the 1st/2nd June. http://www.cycling-embassy.org.uk/news/2013/03/27/cycling-embassy-members-to-gather-at-newcastle
Since the Embassy was founded two years ago, calling for segregated infrastructure and Dutch style provision was considered controversial, while now it's almost mainstream. Lots has changed with the announcements in London of the Mayor's vision, the adoption of 'Go Dutch' as LCC's campaign, and mass protests like Pedal on Parliament. The Embassy was part of that wave, but it needs a broader base and to involve more people if it's to be effective over the next few years, making sure that plans aren't watered down, and that the ambition seen in London spreads to the rest of the UK.
The aim of the weekend (apart from some interesting 'infrastructure safaris' and undoubtedly a bike-based pub crawl) will be to 'reboot' the Embassy ready for the next few years. We welcome anyone who's supportive of our call for first class Dutch-style cycling infrastructure to come along and be part of it.
