Was surprised (given it's the EEN) to find the 'misery' being referred to wasn't the being heaped on the motorist (for whom the diversion loses about 30 seconds).

Lugton Brae must look like the surface of the moon, now. Just like everywhere else that wasn't designed for huge numbers of vehicles.
Although a timescale for the repairs, to be carried out by Bonnyrigg contractor Crummock, has not be confirmed officially...
Not that it should have any bearing on the ODR works, but it was a Crummock vehicle which did this to the 200 year old gateway at the Braid Burn Valley park.

Interesting that none of the Councillor quotes has anything to do with the suffering of residents, and one even goes so far as to say, "It’s been a real pain for people using that route..."
Could have been selevtively quoted, but I have my doubts.

Crummock vehicles may also be near any tram works on the Broomhouse cycle path and arranged in a manner that suggests you've just missed a parking competition for blind people.

The closed stretch of Old Dalkeith Road was used by an estimated 10,000 motorists a day.
And Dalkeith has a Bypass, which (I quote the traffic report for the business case) was meant to "[replace] high volumes of through traffic with pedestrian friendly
streets and other environmental enhancements."Posted 10 years ago # -
I like the way they call it a "commuter nightmare". As if they have no choice.

Well that's where I was once hit by a car from behind and pushed towards oncoming traffic while waiting to turn down onto the Edinburgh Road by a driver who didn't see me. So permit me a degree of schadenfreude at their awful problem (not you though Amir).

It's no problem for me - I don't go that way, but I do feel sorry for the residents if Lytton. Or indeed fir any residents plagued by unnecessary traffic.

How odd. I went through that diversion (on my bike) when dropping the wife's car at the Ford garage in Dalkeith (awesome garage, btw). Had no problems at the diversion, there were cars but no queues, traffic flowing both directions freely during rush hour. Road surface didn't appear too bad either, tbh. Maybe I was very lucky.
