Mr Greig said projects such as the £1 billion Forth replacement crossing were eating up resources that could be spread better to improve conditions for Edinburgh drivers.
Not just drviers! But It's nice to see someone formerly of
Motorways and BridgesTransport Scotland come out and say that vanity megaprojects are exactly that.Posted 12 years ago # -
@K He expressed that view even when he was non-exec at Transport Scotland. He's an equal opportunity vanity project sceptic - just as critical of the Borders Railway as well. Probably shows how little impact a non-exec can have.
Amused by rentaquote Greig's comment:
“We’ve had very few road improvements in Edinburgh over the last few years, if any. We’ve had tinkering around the edges with technology and traffic management type things, but we don’t see the investment in things like ring roads that are standard practice in European cities.”A ring road? Like the by-pass?

"A ring road? Like the by-pass?"
Nah, he'll want a Musselburgh to FB road (via Cramond)...

"
Neil Greig, policy director for the Institute of Advanced Motorists, named the West Approach Road as one of the city’s worst streets for potholes."
At least that proves it's not bikes that cause potholes...
If it's that bad, maybe it should be shut to motor vehicles(?)

Nah, he'll want a Musselburgh to FB road (via Cramond)...
We'd get that a damn sight quicker than the waterfront boardwalk...

Glimpsed a picture of Peter Docherty on EEN front page, but this is Ian. Heard piece on R4 yesterday about sinkholes in Samarkand ...? Yesterday, the snow melts into puddles over crater, car can't see them, drive into them and disappear. Turned out not quite so dramatic but need to be hauled out
