I have just recieved one of these jackets, needless to say the quality and fit is superb.

If you are about 5ft 10ish and 12st I would recommend large, but I could have got away with XL just a tad loose, not baggy.

Loads of other bargains to be had

Can we arrange a meetup once it arrives? Perhaps at the end of month coffee at PY?

I have ordered a Montane Fetherlite H2O as my Bontrager Sport Windproof isn't at all waterproof after a few uses. This was recomended by a few Audax freinds and has taped seams apparently. I was after something water proof but which packs small. Looking at the pic online I hope its not identical to my Bontrager windproof....

I need a new lightweight waterproof as my last (and frankly innefective) one was lifted from my Carradice when I popped into the shops.

I'm thinking of the Craft Performace rain jacket.

We could have a PY waterproof special. Need to arrange a rainy day!

I have not attended a PY as yet but would be happy to, I work in Granton so weekdays are out for me.

I do have it already and live to the South of the city

You live in the south and work in the north? No chance of popping into PY on the meadows for 5 mins?

I commute along Colinton road, then along Slateford and then along the Roseburn path. I also start at 8am so generally leave the house at 7:10.

Maybe I should have said Southwest

I think with these jackets it's important to get a good fit at the collar. If it's loose you get the Michelin Man effect. I have a Pearl Izumi Pro Aero which I carry for days when it turns cold or wet.

Dave C - at least Montane are not lying as they say windproof and water resistant.

The holy grail of Waterproof, Windproof, Breathable is, IMO, always compromised in at least one way.

I recently felt compelled (by virtue of the weather and the fact it was on sale) to buy a new winter windproof cycling jacket. I found this excellent Exteondo Due jacket on sale over at Prendas Cyclisimo. It really is very nice, although my two minor niggles are the cuffs are overly tight for tucking a winter glove under and the single rear, zipping pocket would be better if accompanied by traditional jersey pockets, to allow more to be carried on longer rides.

Well ideally I think I'd like a Goretex Oxygen jacket but I don't have the folding variety spare atm....

I have a gore waterproof for weekend stuff. It works well and packs into a back pocket. The altura jacket for work is okay but not as breathable.

I have a highly waterproof and highly unbreathable (despite side and back vents) Craft waterproof. Fine for getting to work or around town, uncomfortable for any sort of faster / longer rides.

Was lookin at gore fusion 2. Indeed was in communication with gore on breathability which is cited n a RET scale (resistance to evaporative transfer..??) a low RET number is below 6 the fusion 2 is below 4. Cheapest I could get it £175 via buddy's platinum wiggle card

Gembo, sure its lovely......but I still go for windproof and only resort to a water barrier if its utterly horrible - and even then expect to sweat!

Nelly I am with you I would need a RET rating of below 1 the amount I sweat. The jacket for me realistically I'd one that dries at work for return leg. The other day in the rain, I went for getting wet. Worked well, I got wet. I had change of clothes but should have put my galoshes on. Ended up wandering around ocean terminal waiting for my meeting at Scottish govt. the shops in there do not open until 9.30 so went for drying kit on radiator during my meeting. Fortunately the civil servant I was meeting keen cyclist.

Council had big conference for staff today to get the new conference centre next to EICC. Quite a few cyclists, no racks, they are going round the side in the gap between the two conference centres. This is the old gap that leads directly down to Lothian road without the big detour round the building site which is the new conference centre. So will be good.

I did not know we needed more conference centres but we do.
