"could someone post exactly where that is?"

    Well...

    http://edinburgh.cyclestreets.net/journey/185055

This starts with with I would call Roseburn Bridge (over main road) and ends with what I would call Roseburn Viaduct over WoL - which I believe LaidBack means.

Cyclestreets says 1m21s for that journey. You might want to give yourself a bit extra time if you don't want to shake all your fillings out - the surface on that short section is bumpy. Bugs me every time.

Is the journey itself which uses a different route from one we might take...

Or we could split the ride and whoever gets to Cramond first buys the drinks...

That'll be you then on your superfast recumbent.

I might just decide to conform and use a standard bike...

Then again I don't think I have anything that's roadworthy.

Me and the Bulgarian BSO will be there with bells on. Maybe meet in Cramond If I can't bring myself to do the big dogleg via Roseburn.

I'm fairly sure i know where it is.....

SO 1745 at the slightly unknown place?

  12. I'm very touch and go to get out at 5.30 - been in a conference call for the last hour and no signs of ending soon, with plenty to do afterwards cos I'm off tomorrow. If I'm not there at 5.45 set off without me and I'll catch you at the pub!

Well, I've watched the TdF live, so I'm planning on joining in. I'll aim to get over to the meeting point (if I can find it) for 5.45...

Good to meet up and glad everyone could make it round the same table at end.

I think we could be called a diverse crowd with a common interest.

Next one we can do Sheep Heid. Then go back to Anths for a BBQ ;-)

Great evening ride! I was surprised at the number of other cyclist that also turned up a the pub, there are quite a lot out there. Just a shame about the lack of decent beer, they could at least try having one guest Scottish beer.

Yeah, the beer is awful there. Cheap, but awful.

Ach the beer wasn't that bad, its wet and mildly alcoholic oh and cheap.... Though decent pint of heavy wouldn't have gone a miss.

Can't say I've got anything against Samuel Smith's beers - they've got an old school feel about them, which I quite like and which suits the Cramond Inn. I've certainly had a lot worse (see what's on sale in 90% of pubs in Edinburgh...). Anyway, at £2.08 for a pint of stout, even if you pay by card and are subjected to the 1.58% surcharge, I can't fault it.

    Good to meet everyone.

Their stout was quite drinkeable. Old Brewery was closest they had to a 80/- according to them.

I would have liked to see a choice of local beers though. I thought that pubs always had to have at least one?

Presumably everyone knew who I was, but I didn't get to put names to everyone's faces. Steve? Rob? PS?
