@sallyhinch @fimm - We rode the Two Tunnels route back in July. Must admit I didn't fully own up to Mrs Panyagua how long the tunnel was, and she wasn't that happy in the middle (what with the dim lighting so as not to disturb the bats, the 'audio art installation' and the cold drips) - our speed went up by about 10 mph! It was amazing though; beautiful countryside at the other end, and back to Bath along a canal lined with more narrowboats than I would have believed existed.

Monsal Trail - Buxton to Bakewell in the Peak District.
Several tunnels of varying lengths. Really lovely route on a disused railway line. Some great viaducts and beautiful views. The western end is actually a couple of miles out of Buxton, but the Bakewell end is in the town itself. Plenty of refreshments and interesting sights there, especially on market day. There's also a nice cafe in a converted station about halfway along the route. Bike hire available at both ends too if you happen to be there without your own steed.
When I rode it with Mrs Bhachgen it was a day with some sunshine but also some huge thunderstorms, so the tunnels came in handy for shelter on a couple of occasions.

I found this when spring cleaning the bike videos. Reminds me of HankChief's comments on tunnels earlier on. The back-seat passenger on my bike enjoyed the echo. His sister was more interested in the architecture, particularly at the start.

See also last night's episode of Sherlock and the sidebar on the BBC news website about abandoned but not dismantled London tube stations. aldwych seems to be the big one, abandoned in 1994.

Noticed this evening on way home that there appears to be a substantial service tunnel under Viewforth, which I presume led from the Fountain Brewery on the east side of the road to the canning and distribution plant on the west.

when I took the WoL path down to Leith I was convinced that after the bike chute down to the lower roseburn path there was a big pipe that was part of the brewery run off into the WoL. There was often a very pleasant beery smell at the pipe for sure.

@Gembo where abouts exactly do you mean by "lower Roseburn path"? is it the path along the WoL that runs underneath the old railway?

Yes Kaps that is it. You go up the cobbled street named Roseburn Cliff then there is a bike chute to get on the path. The upper roseburn path in the gembosphere is the Coates Tce or Russell road entrance path. There is a connecting stairwell between the two but that is quite a pain.

@Arrellcat the opposite portal can be imagined behind the pile of earth and rubble on this photo from the same site. It appears rectangular in section on this side, rather than two discrete arches.

Late to this thread.
I have cycled through the Neidpath tunnel into Peebles on my F2F (Solway Firth 2 Firth of Forth) cycle in the summer of 2013. Its quite a nice path to cycle along, where its overland as grass and dirt have filled in the balast but in the tunnel its just very bumpy!!
I have tried up loading pics to my photobucket but our company interweb is pants!

Another one further afield (although currently closed for refurbishment) the Tyne Pedestrian & Cycle Tunnel. Last time I used it it had the longest single flight wooden escalators in the world...

It shows any cyclepaths and footpaths which are marked as "tunnels" in OSM. Most of these definitely count as underpasses rather than tunnels, but oh well.
If you want to do it for a different area, just shift the map or zoom in/out and click "Run" in the top left.

The Eshiels tunnel (under the A72 between Peebles and Glentress, and mentioned on previous page by AKen) was in the local News again earlier this month. "Four years after horror crash, SBC have yet to carry out cycle path improvements" - no lighting or marking to show boundary between cyclepath and drain in steep, dark tunnel.

@chdot GOOD TO SEE THE 1600S cULROSS tunnel also getting a mention
The issue with these earlier tunnels is that they are all flooded
