    @jdanielp

I was thinking more Omar Sharif's entrance in Lawrence of Arabia.

I have a spare hatcam if someone needs one today. I found and brought my Contour ROAM, a memory card and the vented helmet mount for it, which could also be persuaded to mount on a pannier rack.

At the risk of making IwratS' editing harder, probably the more footage the better.

I'll be sporting older GoPros - 1080p front and rear (30 fps) and helmet (60 fps). I could go for a higher res on the helmet but 60 fps is usually better for capturing detail in movement.

ROAM set to its max of 1920*1080 at 30fps. I could possibly set the VIRB on the bars to 50. 1080p 16:9 at 25fps or 720p 16:9 at 50fps. I can change that reasonably quickly but the ROAM requires modification of a text file on the memory card.

Before I forget - the lights for traffic coming out of Tarvit Street and for traffic turning right out of Gilmore Place changed at the same time, as far as I could tell.

Yes that is correct. Coming out of Gilmore Place the lights go green 15sec after the left filter comes on. Counting down for a quick dash immediately on green offers a chance to turn into Leven Street before being blocked by traffic exiting Tarvit Street (and possibly being stranded in an exposed position for quite a while). Would be great if there was a right filter just for a few seconds - wouldn't need to be just for bikes.

Looks like it was that the green on Tarvit St stayed green for longer than the other one. Supposed to have been corrected years ago, but these things sometimes relapse.

How did our intrepid film crew and participants get on?

The EPOG meeting with Council, Police & everyone is on Monday regarding the PoP Feeder rides, so if there was opportunity to see the results before then it would be much appreciated.

Filming progressed without anyone getting run over, but otherwise I think it went OK - I think IwratS wanted more drama for the edit, but perhaps a good Foley artist could fix that...

Those GoPro images are lovely but the files are gargantuan. My poor little laptop is like a snake swallowing a cow. Still, coming up eventually....

Right, sorry that took so long. How's this for a propaganda film?

That’s awesome - it really shows how scary it is. Only thing missing is right turning eastbound traffic cutting across westbound cyclists near the end

Fantastic. Thanks all. I freely admit to clenching as the van and bus go past.

Nice work everyone! I enjoyed the epic soundtrack too.

@Roibeard are you offering to sacrifice yourself for a sequel?

Watching the video gives the feeling that it was only due to luck that there were no injuries.

Compare to similar offset junctions: Hanover to Mound and Leith Walk to Constitution St have wee dashed lines to show the indicated traffic route, but here you have to trundle into the box and face off the oncomers.

Watching CCErs ride is a lesson in BikeAbility Level 7 skills. Conservative, prudent, assertive riding in standard crazy conditions.

    I enjoyed the epic soundtrack

That is the cream of Creative Commons music. I did toy with ambient electronic industrial metal, but...

    Carl Orff
    Bowie's We Can Be Heroes
It's the End of the World as We Know It
    Death metal screaming
    Barber's Adagio for strings
    Psycho

This morning, the driver of the number 27 filtering past in the left-hand lane actually opened his window to tell the cyclists waiting to turn right to "watch out for the wheel of the bus".

I appreciate it is a tight turn but if it is not possible to make the turn without putting other people in danger, then perhaps he should have waited the few seconds it would have taken for the cyclists to move forward when the light changed.

@davidsonsdave Would he have shouted the same thing at a driver? How would they have been able to "watch for the wheel of the bus"?

@davidsonsdave other bus drivers routinely complete that left turn without crossing the lane divider. Was anything parked up on the pavement or was it just a super-cautious driver?
