WC -That would at least mean the Ferrytoll was a two horse 'race'. So yes - thanks.

But it's not a race of course... merely a challenge (for me to organise!)

We aslo have Electron Wheels agreeing to take part from Ingliston. Harts might want to take part with their Gazelle.

I will be on a slow bike on a slow route but it's all about the experience. I might take some wildlife photos.

I can do Ferrytoll by bike if no-one else can, the planets have indeed aligned.

At the moment it will take me 1hr 5 - 15mins though, so not competitive with car unfortunately.

Maybe because it's not a "race"...

Bah! After bowing out of the Straiton leg because I was going to a meeting that morning, I now don't need to attend the meeting, meaning I'm now available again. :-/

@Laidback I have a potential driver, only issue is they need to be at work, close to St Andrews Square for 8am.

That would likely mean a Ferrytoll start before 7...

Is that do-able for you @WC?

Arellcat - yes we do need an unusual bike or whatever. So we'll dig out an extra bit of correx.

Baldycyclist. The drive could be earlier... although... challenge is already 'weighted' (unintentionally) to allow cars every advantage. This was so people could take part and hang around at finish.

Chdot - what do you think? Car goes in early and sets a best possible marker time. Drivers are meant to park somewhere they could keep car all day. Many meters limited to four hours max. So that has to be factored in to car use.

Shpuld the time include park-up-and-walk-to-square time if parking at the all-day capable St James Centre?

    Wingpig - indeed it should.

John S car will have a penalty of 15 mins added if parked in square. He does have to get off to another item and is doing as a favour. He rides his bike every day so would far rather have cycled in!

Rabid Hamster is car sharing so very handy if you are person getting dropped off. His driver is heading elsewhere so good car use (if there is such a thing!). He has longer walk from Cowgate chasm of pollutants.

Darren M is using car club plug in car. This will be left at the car club bay in Thistle St. Short walk and pay as you go.

Deffo up for bike at Newcraighall. Have been discussing routes with Algo and will be trying different ways in.

Anyone have a any good suggestions to get from Newcraighall P&R through to Niddrie avoiding all the traffic lights under the A1?

That's the way I plan to go. Apart from riding along the pavements towards Fort Kinnaird it's the only alternative. The underpass up near QMU is a huge diversion which only brings you out in Fort Kinnaird eventually anyway.

I'm cycling a combination of innocent and roads. There are roadworks currently when you turn right out of the park and ride to go towards the off-road route to Gilbertstoun and Brunstane, which have contraflow lights - not sure if they'll still be there on Thursday. The three sets of lights immediately after turning left are annoying, but it will give IWRATS a chance to cock a snook demonstrate that running is definitely fastest of certain sections...

    @algo

The only thing that'll be cocked is the brace of flintlock pistols I carry whenever I cross Bingham due to the lawless, wicked, and disaffected persons inhabiting within the said several shires and bounds.
