Spotted a woman and child on another Helios Tandem in beafort road a few days ago too. In the driving rain. Looking cool though.

Spotted a lowracing Dave on his Raptobike turning into West Saville Terrace this afternoon while I was
shooting fish in a barrelobserving motorist behaviour at the new ASL. Pure concentration meant that my greeting was lost in the pink noise of the passing cars.Posted 13 years ago # -
Spotted a bakfiets (with kids on board) in Midcalder this afternoon and a (yellow iirc)tandem stopped for happy snaps in Juniper Green, no cycling for me :-/ but on the MTB tomorrow again so the commute should be a giggle (always seems to attract idiots in cars?!?)

Two recumbent trikes in the tunnel leading to Spylaw park (Easter Hailes Gate, I think) this afternoon.
We were on our way back from a cycle picnic led by Andy from Storybikes - with quite a few bike week balloons attached.

SRDTwo recumbent trikes in the tunnel leading to Spylaw park (Easter Hailes Gate, I think) this afternoon.
Not mine... Was out to Queensferry with a trike and two bikes on Saturday. Day off on Sunday.

I saw a woman on an upright trike yesterday at Kings Theatre crossroads. It had two child seats on the back and looked pretty cool.

Spotted a recumbent (trike?) heading along Gilmore Place towards Home street today (noonish maybe). Bloke in fluorescent yellow jacket, white hair?

An LB customer. He was at shop this morning picking up panniers. He lives up a nice big hill and reckons he can get up just as fast on his ICE Sprint 2FS (a recumbent trike with full suspension).
He will use this to cycle to work so although expensive it will get used.Posted 13 years ago # -
Interesting. He looked like he was working pretty hard - and had a bit of a queue of traffic built up behind him (at that narrow bendy bit of Gilmore Place).

Trikes do help to keep the traffic under control;-)
Bit like police horses going up the Mound.Seriously though, I do give guidance on 'working with' traffic although in the world of cycling 'advice' can sometimes be read as 'criticism'. I personally don't like to build up a queue if I can avoid it. Each rider will make his or her own judgement.

Hi all, I'm new here, I've been meaning to join for some time. The recumbent rider holding up the traffic was me (sorry!). I always go that colour when I push it hard, which I was, cos I was trying to get past the twisty bit. The twisty bit was at a pedestrian refuge, as I remember, and being a bit nervous and new to recumbents, I took a middle line. On my normal bike I'd have kept well to the left. When I get more used to riding the wider recumbent trike, I'll be able to handle it better. That day was my 2nd time of using the new beast, as I recall. I totally agree with LaidBack's view, and I wouldn't normally build up a queue - what's the point of irritating motorists?

Hey, we all get tails of traffic, sometimes. Wouldn't have mentioned it except that Laidback was talking about how fast you were! Hope to see you around - I'm the pregnant one, going slow and puffing a lot while looking disapprovingly at RLJs etc.
There's a thread somewhere all about that twisty, narrow bit - forum member had a particularly aggressive encounter with a driver there.

Thank you so much, for not dissing me. I do try to go as fast as possible, hence part of my interest in recumbents. My trike does seem a good deal faster than my upright, but that's probably down to the off-road tyres on the upright (it's an Orange P7 mountain bike). RLJs do irritate me, but you've got to just learn to cope with it. I actually stopped using the canal path because of problems with congestion and I find the roads easier to manage. I don't know about you - which do you prefer? Thanks a million for your post.
