Good to see everyone again! Next time I'm ordering hot chocolate, because two (admittedly very nice) lattes later I've gone a bit wobbly! Wingpig, how on earth weren't you cold? :-)

Took me about five miles for my fingers to realise that I was actually wearing gloves, but my toes were absolutely frozen even in my thick socks. Never thought I'd start looking at neoprene booties.

Booties FTW, don't care how they look. (Although my cycling shoes seem to actively suck in cold air) :)

...passing school kids tried to shine either a very bright rear bike LED or a laser pen in my face as I passed. They missed.

They shone it into Anth's eyes I think as they wandered past PY towards the gym and onwards. Scrotes.

My latest bike shoes (Shimano MO63) also seem to suck in cold air with aplomb. Normally I'd be riding wearing my hiking boots, but needed the SPDs today.

Never thought I'd start looking at neoprene booties.

I totally forgot to show off the repairs I've made to my booties with tent groundsheet patches and inner tube (and lots of vulcanizing solution).

I *have* to wear them as the Northwave (exploding bikers) Touring shoe uppers are basically made mostly from mesh. My feet were still frozen despite the booties and thick (merino) trekking socks.

I feel an email to the head teacher at St Thomas of Aquin's - or whatever it's called - coming on.

Smudge sleeping and Spitfire... well... erm...

    Wingpig looking cool

Arelcat and Laidback (finally getting him to look at the camera!)

  8. All camera phone shots so not my usual!!! :P

Kaputnik had just left, and Stepdoh hadn't arrived yet...

Also, I can declare Kaputnik's baguette a success. A year living in France saw me eat a lot of baguettes (I used to have to buy two because I knew I'd eat one on the walk back to the uni residence), and this matches up.

I was unusually hirsute, so probably no pic was a good thing.

Awesome. Now if I put some ice-cubes in the oven to provide steam I should be able to get them to crisp up :)

Glad you all had a good time. I was never likely to make it in from the honest toun. Maybe next time (and if I can work on my facial hair).

  12. But not TOO crisp otherwise you cut the roof of your mouth...

Just recieved a phone call from deputy head at St. Thomas's. Nice man, thanked me for letting them know about the potential laser-pointer shiners, said he would put in the school bulletin and the end of year assembly that something like this is stupid, unnaceptable and could land them up on the wrong side of the law (without specific reference to anything happening, as it could have been kids from another school). Also said he'd keep his ear to the grapevine and let me know if anything else turned up that resulted in a St. Thomas's pupil being caught shining laser pointers.

Well done, kaputnik. And remember, at least two of us got a decent look at the kid holding the laser pointer.

Unfortunately I didn't. I wasn't even looking at them at the time which I suppose was actually good as it meant they couldn't shine it directly in my eyes

    "Min keeping warm"

Well we always have a roaring candle at home to keep us warm. We'll be having to cut down a bit though due to wax price increases.

    Finally logged on...

Been a very busy day in my other job.

Was good turnout with something for everyone (sorry Anth I did promise you a mag...)

Did a nice trike run down to TBC to get a rack light. The Mound was fun on three wheels.

Shoogling the camera to make it look extra sparkly is cheating.

I'm sorry to have missed this morning's festivities. What a turnout.

By the way SRD, I chuckled at your wee joke (on the previous page: "hey, are you the transport minister?")!

I can also declare kaputnik's baguettery a success. Really good balance between dough and air, perfect with some peanut butter.

    I'm positive the following post had a specific thread, but this is the only one I could find using search that made mention of it;

What with the hours of darkness upon us and some people not being able to make time/location of PY (or even get themselves out of bed!) there was a semi-agreement last season to make a trip to the festivus market by the galleries for a stein of mulled wine and sample the wurst of the sausages on offer (oh ho ho... groan!)

Unfortunately as we know the weather took a turn for the worse at the end of November and went downhill from there.

Weather permitting I hereby table a motion to the committee proposing that this idea be re-debated.

    Discuss.

What's there to debate? There's gluehwein, beer, bratwurst. It will be my home from home come December...

You'll be wanting people to bring their studded tyres to test the ice rink.
