    It's the Police Scotland line too (as POP found out) - the police won't police the road unless it's closed.

    No, that's not right, the police won't protect vulnerable road users unless the road is closed.

    Nope, surely not, the police won't police an event on the public highway, unless it's not a public highway, as the roads aren't safe for use unless armoured up.

    Yep, that's it.

    Something funny happened to the original post. I put it up at lunchtime - I couldn't see it up. The time registered seems to be about 3 hours before!

    Anyway, there is a very worrying line of thinking being followed by the police, and not really in line with government policy.

    When I were a lad during Miner's strike, police loved it as were on triple pay.

    I don't actually think this will be a factor for PoP. Rather, they were caught out a bit last year because no one knew the numbers who would show. This year as they can use last year to predict numbers, they make their judgement call and we dudes must abide
