    The real bit of news in this (from my perspective) is that the female demographic is starting to see 'popular figures' standing up saying "it's good not to be a waif - I want to be strong and powerful in myself and for myself, and to be able to ride my bike for the sheer pleasure of it".

    Jess Ennis started the being strong message, but then trampled all over the impact of it by whining she thought her arms looked too muscly in dresses and feminine tops. Glad to see Victoria Pendleton pushing the 'strong is the new skinny, even if there's not an Olympic medal at stake' message.

    "And she wants to get her muscles back, of course. "A bit more leg muscle, a bit more arm muscle, back muscle. It's something I really do aim to do, to get a bit more toned, when I have time.""

    I'm not her biggest fan but she gets a big thumbs up in my book for plugging this message.

    @MeepMeep agreed.

    It is a good article.
    She's got some stuff to say about riding on the roads too - not that it will be new to those of us who also cycle on roads...
