Safer bike lane from guerilla activists in Seattle made permanent. OK, lets have a whip round and do this on Melville Drive... ;-)

    Excellent!

The initial response of Seattle's version of CEC was amusingly similar to what might be offered as an excuse here - that the height of the bollards could somehow represent a greater risk than the traffic!

Still, what a result - and clearly, again, something which is massively cheaper and hugely more effective than, erm... paint.

Does Mr Orr still peruse these pages?

It'd be worth attempting on MD just to watch the comments on the Scotsman or other newspaper of your choice. I'm sure we'll first be branded as eco terrorists and then subjected to a lengthy explanation of why preventing parking on MD will immediately lead to an economic apocalypse and the sky falling in etc etc. You know just like all the other cycling infrastructure caused.

It's not difficult to tell an anonymous commenter from a ray of sunshine. Imagine their comments read in a whining, snivelling voice. It really helps.
