"It would be interesting to know the stats for Scotland on just how many cyclists had been injured going up the left side of buses at all, as well as how many were so injured going up the left while using a cycle lane."
Got sent this by someone with a finger on a mouse -
"
from OpenGov data for 2011 (latest available):
reported injury road accidents in Scotland 9970 approx
vehicles involved 16730 approx
of which were cycles 857
and buses/coaches/minibuses 664.
Accidents involving both a bus and a cycle 23.
And in all the injury accidents reported to the police in Scotland in 2011, the total involving both a vehicle coded as a bus and one as a cycle, when the cycle was overtaking on the nearside was ... 1 (one).
It seems to have been in a bus lane in Glasgow.
(the data and this analysis is not guaranteed)
2012 data is available too.
And in all the injury accidents reported to the police in Scotland in 2012, the total involving both a vehicle coded as a bus and one as a cycle, when the cycle was coded as overtaking on the nearside was ... 1 (one). (again)
This was in Edinburgh.
strangely, although 5 of the bus-bike accidents in 2011 were in bus/cycle lanes, none of those in 2012 were.
