Probably this has been mentioned before, but the road surface here

is seriously bad. It seems worse than it was only a short time ago. The problem is the cracks are longitudinal and deepening so very hard to move across safely if you want to move to secondary after the junction (over which I take primary). Had a very close pass there yesterday night by someone who was presumably oblivious to the difficulties to find a decent bit of road there... not malicious, but a bit thoughtless. We should both have tried to be nicer.

It's been like that for as long as I can recall. Years and years. Maybe if we all Clarence it en masee the Council will finally get around to doing something...

I agree - riding along Abbeymount in either direction is not *nice*. The problem is the road gets huge volumes of surface water run off from Regent Rd which turns it into a mini river. It's no use repairing the holes until the drainage is sorted out.

Clarenced by me. Bit surprised I've not come a cropper there before - I think I usually go when there are fewer cars and I'm freer to pick which bit of road I use. Think it was lack of forethought by me this time - probably should put myself in the rubbish cycling thread.

    Thanks for the helpful responses.

If I'm heading downhill I'll stick in primary all the way down to the next junction - it's a lot harder to do going uphill though :(

Oh and thanks for Clarencing - I'll do the same. Don't know why I didn't think of it before.

thanks - I should have done that - will be more assertive next time. Wasn't cycling very well last night.

I'll Clarence too, as I've always thought "****! this is appalling!" whenever I've ridden it.

I Clarenced it last year, as you can see there's been a massive improvement since then. Not.

Maybe if loads of folk do it they might put it higher up the "to do" list...
