    Crap.
    Glad you're alright.
Glad that Police are taking action.
Hope you and the bike back in running order soon.

There's nothing in the nicewaycode about not right hooking (despite left/right hooks accounting for the majority of all bicycle KSIs). Another massive flaw in this campaign, not targetting advice where it's needed.

Just back from ERI, broken metacarpal in left hand. No cycling for around 4 weeks which is about the time I'm doing London to Paris. Oh well, indoor trainer it is then!!!

Can anyone point me in the direction of the posts dealing with legal advice? Or make a recommendation?

That's not good - shame about missing the London to Paris as well. No other injuries? How's the bike?

Glad to hear it's not too bad (though being stuck indoors - cyclingwise - for pretty much all of August sucks big time).

If you are thinking of making a civil claim, check your household insurance to see if you are covered. Otherwise, go to http://www.lawscot.org and navigate to the Find a Solicitor tab. Put in your details and you will find a selection of firms in your location which deal with insurance type reparation claims for personal injuries.

You could try Cycle Law Scotland.

From personal experience, get absolutely everything checked and claim for everything involved or impacted, no matter whether you're told it's minor or not. Aim to have/get everything returned to the state it was before or better.

Glad the Polis are taking it seriously and are taking action. I got a dismissive 'this type of thing happens everyday' attitude.

Thanks for the sentiments folks, much appreciated.

Spoke with Cycle Law Scotland, very impressive so far so will see what comes of it.

Oh...and won't be missing L2P...will cycle one handed if I have to!! Four weeks to recover and a lot of indoor training ahead!

Broken metacarpal will be bloody painful for a while, and should produce a lovely big (temporary) lump on the back of your hand as it heals. A month should be enough time that you could ride a recumbent bike ok; you won't want to put pressure on it before it's healed properly, especially something like L2P. Be careful!

Handlebars might feel ok, until you have to grab your brake lever in a hurry.
