New school year

    Edinburgh schools started back today. Very good to see no parents dropping off in front of school, but depressing to see massive greggs lorry come down residential road in front of school to then try and turn right onto right into another residential road. It couldnt manage the turn, so then had to reverse back throu school crossings. Right in between the two bells. Nightmare.

    So, started the school year as I mean to go on with a letter to the parent council and head teacher asking them to consider asking concil to close road in front of school at start/finish times. This is something the council is actually doing - although I have yet to prise the details of which schools and how to actually request it out of them. Will keep you updated if it goes anywhere.

    But.....those steak bakes and sausage rolls are vital to the economy and must be delivered ASAP! No doubt the breeze blocks on the flat bed lorry exiting the side street are absolutely essential too. Nothing must be allowed to interfere with the green shoots of recovery.

    My boy walks himself to school in the mornings, so haven't sampled the parental traffic jam in the cul-de-sac yet. Can't wait for 3.25.

    P.S,:- Good to see that Widek bell on the handlebars. Ching-ching!

    Good question. Nowhere that a shortcut up bruntsfield ave would help.

    Interesting that both lorries have greggs on the side but one's a baker and one's a scaffolder ........ ........ OK sorry that's not interesting at all....... Goodfellow and stevens have downsized and moved to the bottom of Morningside road.
