Every word of this is grim and awful and tragic and stupid and awful.

The death of a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a car.

Not just a bollard, the damage done by also trying to take out the traffic light pole behind it. Some cars never learn.

A driver escaped unhurt, last night

Damnit unhurt! If you're going to go after them at least make sure you don't get your name in the paper!

@steveo I will have to find a new vigilante costume. And next time, none shall escape.

Gandalf cycling west on NMW earlier this evening as I was cycling east, quite possibly heading to Tollcross Primary School for the State Circus group which I haven't attended in a very long time.

The above was intended for the Spotted thread. Must have mispressed the link.

This is intended for the Overlander - Launch Event thread: I wonder if Gandalf will turn up and if I'll throw him out if he does?

"A woman was injured after a car left the road and went through the window of a London pub."

No mention of a driver, but apparently "A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and dangerous driving" - maybe related?

"Driver hurt after bus crashes into East Whitburn house"

    Bad bus.

  16. The little blurb on the main BBC news page for this was an absolute classic:

"The single-decker school bus, which was empty at the time, left the main road and hit the front of the house"

Those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it. Bad bus, thinking it can do what it likes.

Lest we forget the ignominious end of Bulgy the Double-Decker Bus who crashed into a low bridge and wedged himself so securely that he found himself removed to the nearby field to live out his days as a hen house.

In later generations of computer animated Thomas he gets to drive again and ends up as a farmer's roving vegetable stall. Perhaps all bad drivers should be made to spend their weekends selling farm produce from their boots.

Boy, 10, injured in Aberdeen bicycle accident

A 10-year-old boy has been injured after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car in Aberdeen.

Car hits bicycle. Boy hurt. I think I understand.

At last they are explicit about who did the striking. Even if they used "by" rather than "with".

Imagine if the boy had been walking...

A 10-year-old boy has been injured after the shoes he was wearing were struck by a car in Aberdeen.

    Absurd, isn't it?

A forklift got drunk and fell off a lorry:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-48436405

Nothing to do with the driver failing to secure their load. Nothing at all.

Woman deliberately hit by car in Shotts murder bid

The car's family know who it is and should turn it in to the police to face justice.

I worked in Shotts for six months back in the 1990s, appears not to have changed

There was a pub called something like The Psycho Duck, where Pogue Mahone played several times in the previous decade to my sojourn

Please google The Mukky Duck Shotts if u r interested. Claims 50 arrests at the pogues gig, so basically everyone in the audience plus all the pogues arrested. I think this is possibly true
