"A car has flipped onto its roof"

    Annoying when that happens.

Thon Keith Broon assured as that dual carriageways were accident-proof.

They are. Dual carriageways have no accidents at all. Those horrible cars though, veering out of control all over the place. They're the problem.

    From above...

"A car has flipped onto its roof"

A police spokeswoman said: "At this moment in time there is nothing to indicate this has been a serious incident" !!

Nope, nothing serious about 1,000+ kg of metal being flipped over.

Can you imagine a one ton generator on a building site being flipped over and the Health and Safety inspector saying it's nothing serious?

As a society we're incredibly and peculiarly blase about road "accidents", when in any other context there would be a public outcry.

Low sun warning as 16 vehicles caught up in A92 pile-up

A veritable outbreak of sentience with cars "colliding" and "leaving the road". The machines are rising.

Seem to recall a terrible pile-up on the Sheppey Bridge in Kent 2 years back when hundreds of cars went temporarily insane and drove into eachother in thick fog.

    BAD cars.

I think it is the game Mousetrap that I keep thinking of when I hear of these flipping cars. I think that when they drive over a certain manhole cover, it springs up and flips the car over. It's the only explanation.

"The accident happened on Duddingston Park North, near the Wisp Junction, at around 4.20pm. The two officers inside the vehicle rushed to hospital by ambulance, but a police spokesman insisted neither had been seriously hurt."

Ignoring the curious need for the spokesman to insist that they weren't hurt if one of the officers had been driving perhaps this wouldn't have happened.

How do you flip a car onto its roof in a thirty zone? Someone managed it a few weeks ago in Tranent High Street.

These people would really be far better of not being in their vehicles if they aren't going to be driving anyway.

  18. A link on the BBC doesn't appear to be working, but the headline is a classic of the genre....

"Woman saved after car goes in river"

Makes it sound like an excited puppy that just couldn't be held back from going to play in the water.

EDIT: "Woman saved after she drives car into river"?

    Planes at it too

A plane having the "presence of mind" to abort the take-off is surely something to applaud...

    Very bad car

A COUPLE had a lucky escape when a stolen car crashed into their house at 80mph.

Alison Timoney was sitting in the living room of her Bishopbriggs home when the car left the road, knocked over a lamppost and careered through the garden hedge, crashing into her car before somersaulting and landing on its roof just inches from the window.

    "

Detective Inspector Greg Wilkie, from Greater Glasgow Division CID, said: "We are still trying to establish a motive for this incident.

"We're very keen to speak to the occupants of the 4x4 vehicle seen driving off minutes after the VW Passat was set alight.

This sad incident has already been mentioned in it's own thread. But surely it's worth a mention here. I hope the moped driver is insurance will pay out for loss of earnings and allow Steve to train all year before another attempt.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Bury New Road in the Whitefield area of Greater Manchester on Tuesday at about 21:15 BST. It is thought one of the cars crashed into the bay window of a semi-detached house. The property has been made safe."
