    "There are rougher bits on the path than the rumble strips (the infilled trench for the lamp column at the foot of the slope up to Ravelston Dykes is an example)."

    That bit has annoyed me for years. I guess it's being left in that state as it does make you slow down when you're heading Leithwards, thus making the entry to the path from those coming down the slope a little less hazardous.

    I'd like them to get rid of the vegetation around the slope so it was easier to check if anyone's coming down it as you approach their exit.

    I'd also like the vegetation removed around the junction to Wester Coates. It's very hard to see left and right as you come on to the NEPN there.

    I cut back the scrub at Craigleith junction. I asked CEC to do the verges, and they were reluctant to do it completely, only wanted to know the bad spots...
    @north_team When are verges on NEPN getting trimmed pls? Weeds/briars causing narrowing, endangering runners/walker/s/cyclists. #budgetCuts?

    Previous years they did the whole route twice, once early in growing season and once late on.

    Was reading the last couple of posts last night before I left work and couldnt think of any close calls I'd had at the junction.

    Typically, last night I had one, I was coming on from Craigleith heading to Davidson Mains and just about got taken out by a roadie who zipped through the juction going North to South without looking.

    The junction was pretty busy with about 6 or 7 riders all converging at once from all directions, but this idiot obviously didnt care and wanted to get home quick !

    This junction is getting a bad reputation as the pea size gravel on the north side is always spread across the whole width of the junction!

    I tweeted to @edinhelp today to report that some of the bricks on speed bump at the north side of the Craigleith junction on the NEPN have gone missing.

    I tweeted edinhelp on Sunday asking this to be treated as an emergency repair. Not entirely surprised nothing has happened.

    Have just tried again.

    If anyone's passing that way, but has the opportunity to liberate a traffic cone or two from somewhere, that might help to avoid any accidents?

    Not having been on the bike for a while, and not having seen the warning in this thread, I hit the missing-brick hole this morning.

    It was still dark, and I was watching a woman with a dog to see where she was going to step, so didn't see it.

    Thankfully I didn't quite come off and the front wheel seems alright, but it was a heck of a jolt on a road bike with very thin tyres.

    I've tweeted edinhelp about it too.

    Anyone tweeting or complaining about this might want to use the following wording, or something like it.

    There is Category 1 defect in the surface of the Blackhall cycle path at the five-ways junction - caused by bricks missing from speed bumps. There is a high probability of falls/crashes, indeed several cyclists have already reported falls/near misses, and a high risk of serious injury to cyclists. The Edinburgh Road Asset Management Plan requires this to be fixed, or made safe, within 24 hours of being reported.

    Sustrans replied to Tweets from me and others yesterday and said that they'd "followed this up directly with contacts at the Council to action as a matter of urgency".

    Let's just see then, shall we?

    As kaputnik pointed out on twitter a bit of cold fill tarmac the council is fond off actually would work here and after three+ weeks they've filled in the gaps with cold fill tarmac...
