Been off for a week (North of Italy - lovely) and commuting to work today and there were flowers on the signposts going South just at the newly refurbished bit of A90 path (Dolphington, maybe?). Looked like "In Memoriam" type flowers :(

I did a quick search on here, and general google - was there an accident in the last week or so?

It might be an anniversary? There was a woman killed October 19th 2011 on the road, she had been trying to walk along the road I think at night and was struck by a number of vehicles around that point.

    Jeez. That's horrendous.

    Thanks for the info, Kaputnik.

kaputnik's right. Somone puts flowers on that stretch at this time every year, I passed them this morning, in the rain.

Yes that was where the lady was run over as she crossed / walked along the A90.

Sad seeing these things, but I'm torn between whether they should be allowed or not. I've lost friends to car accidents and have left flowers by the scene/roadside, but some grow to become large gravesites, with a makeshift headstone and gravel marking etc... This is where I think it gos too far, if we erected a memorial everywhere where someone died they'd be on every corner!

Not saying we shouldn't erect memorials but somewhere sensible, like cemetery's and the like. JMHO

@Skotl - Indeed. A friend of ours, Vanessa. Two years, still seems like yesterday in many ways.

Damn. Sorry to hear that, @mkns, and apologies for bringing it up here.

No need for an apology! Perfectly reasonable question.
