I'm listening to a radio program on t'interweb about Audax, and longer distance riding. John Thurston talks to a Keiron Yates and a few other riders about what its all about.

".. a lot of our riders continue riding through the winter, and there is a saying 'winter miles makes summer smiles'.." This is so true!! :D

Thanks for this. Thinking of going for the Etape Caledonia next year, maybe a 200km Audax too. Longest ride so far is 110km, so I'm a bit worried about making it!

    amir: "pain and cake"

I'm reading this month's Arrivée (the Audax UK magazine). There's a great write-up of LEL by Phil Whitehurst. He suffers all kinds of problems - mechanicals, stomach upsets, exhaustion, injury - so when the sun comes out and he says heat is his Achilles heel I had to laugh. Maybe it's pain, cake and optimism.

I expect to dawdle along for a few hours, admiring the view, stop and have some tea and a cake, dawdle a few more hours, pitch the tent, find a pub and have a few pints.

    Simple equation:
    More miles = more cake.
