What do you all think of this? I like (but out of my price range). Made me think of Min in particular?

I've seen those (online) and thought they looked pretty good, though not my thing personally. I have put one of these on my christmas wish list though. Presumably for the chaps a waterproof kilt might be an alternative?

The elegant rain jacket from Georgia in Dublin is gorgeous! The skirt combo from road rags looks awesome but I wish it was in a different fabric than merino. I can't wear wool :(

Comfy and practical and can be worn on and off the bike, yes I approve!

The rainwrap looks great too though I am not convinced of the crossbar claim. Can't really see myself pulling off the chic look on the Surly with a massive skirt bunched up round my waist..

I'm too old for that sort of thing. I like the rain skirt, though. Minx-girl did some "skorts" - shorts with a little wrap-round skirt, which I thought looked good but again too young for me. There don't appear to be any on the site at the moment, though.

I love the Georgia in Dublin Hustle & Bustle jacket/coat too, though I fear I'm too long and willowy, and at any rate I would have to buy another bike in order to use it properly. :)

    New excuse for N+1!

Talking of women-specific clothing, does anyone have a recommendation for bras in breathable fabrics? I find full-on sports bras a bit uncomfy and also rarely find any my size anyway. M&S do a nice pull-on crop top which is very comfortable but basically nylon and gets really sweaty. I was buying the American Apparel cotton ones but I'm feeling a bit queasy about their advertising & general sleaziness and they're not that well made either. I've got all these brilliant merino base layers, but there's not much point if your bra is a sweaty mess! I don't need that much support, but I do need something more than 'none'. I was rather jealous of the Team GB ones the women were wearing in the Olympics but sadly that's one bit of replica kit they weren't offering for sale ...

PS what looks suspiciously like a rainwrap has arrived in the post for me and once Christmas is over and I can try it out (and I'm back somewhere where it rains) I will report on the cross bar claims

@sallyhinch I'm a 34A and I think all my sports bras are M&S ones and I find them comfortable. Otherwise I have Sloggi (sp?) crop top type things which I like for hillwalking and got in Matalan - but I think they might be nylon.

32A sports bras are like hens' teeth. I did find two in M&S once and bought them both, never seen them stocked since & they've now worn out...

(updated to add - looks like Sloggi do a cotton crop top too http://www.very.co.uk/sloggi-double-comfort-crop-top/921965587.prd - that might be worth checking out)

Ha! Try finding a 32D. Just as rare. In fact, I'm sure I only ever see As....maybe we need to switch where we shop.

I still like the idea of a merino sports bra, but as I recall when I ventured into the shop that claimed to sell them I didn't have any luck.

I'll text you if I see a 32D, do likewise for a 32A and maybe we can swap?

(There are plenty of 32As for non-sports bras, but they seem to be growing increasingly hideous. Either underwired or those pre-shaped cup ones or itchy-looking lace. But I suspect we're getting way off topic here so I'll stop and spare the boys' blushes)

Man in doubt, man invoke humour. :-p

Boobydoo has options for Sally, fimm, SRD and me. Major disaster though, as they have stopped selling Purelime, which was my favourite brand. I was in M&S a few months ago and thought their range didn't seem to be as good as a few years ago.

Men are always in doubt, even those who seem so sure. Though of course I am doubting the veracity of that last remark

The thread is titled "women specific cycling wear" so I don't think a discussion of bras is particularly off topic. If any men are getting embarrassed they can always avoid the thread...

    Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Bras are one of those things I'm rapidly becoming a retrogrouch about (see also trousers), whether worn on the bike or not so I could easily go off topic into a rant about bras in general and the awfulness of modern life in particular. But then again, as I ride pretty much every day in whatever I'm wearing so 'cycle kit' covers my entire wardrobe ...

Well, I can report that the rain wrap works fine with a crossbar and seems to do a decent job of keeping the rain off, even in today's gale (blog)

Getting on, I had to tilt the bike over to stop leg+skirt getting caught up in the pannier and saddle, but once on board, as it's a wrap the skirt just drapes over the crossbar in front of you with no bunching, and there's an elastic and garter to keep it more or less in place, except in a real headwind. I didn't seem to need a chainguard or skirt guard either - the crossbar keeps it out of the way of any moving parts. Much less sweaty and inconvenient than waterproof trousers too - a bit of a win all round.

Jealous, really! (Though not of the completely random sizing of womens clothing sizes naturally)

Cool, I am glad it passed the crossbar test. It sounds great. :-)
