Any plans for EdFoC this year?

I enjoyed the events last year. With TdF and Giro in the UK this year and a film about armstrong due out soon, cycling should have a high profile this year.

I have a pile of EdFoC 2014 brochures to be distributed tomorrow - as soon as these showers/ downpours go away ! :0

It looks a good and bigger programme this year. I'm doing the LaidBack Sunday and the Night Ride again - though the latter is quite a lot further ... and one film I really wanted to see is on a night I have a cannot-miss meeting :(

I was handed one by Kim after the event at the Lyceum. If you read this I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself but you looked like a man with a mission.

Oh I was clearly on a mission last night, to get the word out as widely as possible, please note there are more events on the website than in the printed programme, including the talk by Calton Reid which was only finalised yesterday...

I thought I'd just missed Carlton's talk when I first looked at the programme and rushed to get a ticket, assuming it was on the verge of selling out. Turns out I got the first one :)

@Kim, nice to meet you last night. My daughter and I were the ones sitting in front of you, we had a brief chat about the film Half the Road. We're attending, my daughter contributed in a small way to the funding, I think she'd be delighted if you can get Kathryn Bertine over! Just booked for Carlton Reid, the Pantani reading looks interesting...

I need to sort myself out and book for Half The Road and the Women's Cycling Forum.

I now have a spare ticket for the film 'Half the Road' this evening, if anyone would be interested in acquiring it.

I also have a spare ticket, due to buying several for a group of friends to come. The EventBrite site is a right PITA and makes you buy each ticket individually, and I ended up getting one more than I needed.

Sorry organisers, I know you had good reasons to use EventBrite, but I'd recommend you don't use them again!

I'd love to offer to buy one of these tickets but having been out several evenings this week, I owe MrSRD his evening cycle :(

So what is everyone doing during the festival then? I went on a lovely ride with Glaggy Cog, Laidback, Rabid Hamster? a.n.other bent trike rider, 2 germans and a couple of other plesant ladies lastnight. Many thanks for Laidback in badgering/arm twisting Claggy Cog to lead the ride. I was hoping for a running comentry, and started to do one of my own for the people not familiar with the Forth, when time allowed. We covered ~33km and ended back at Laidback where we stored bikes and went off to the Argyle for some food and drink.

What next? Who is doing what? It was good to meet some new and old CCEers I've not/previously met before.

    :D

I've done my two festival things - the women's cycling forum (discussed elsewhere) and the film "Half the Road", about women's pro cycling, on Monday. The film was interesting but a bit of a polemic and I thought it was a bit long.

I suggested the Marco Pantani thing to Boyfriend but he's busy that evening.

Until my cash-flow problems sort themselves out I won't be doing anything.

Well done to Kim et al. Another successful EdFoC. Listened to magnatom tonight with son who said "he seems much saner in real life".

Stunning 100km Night Ride last night - 'mystery' route, pitch black country lanes, warm dry night, wonderful feed stop at West Barns (Dunbar way); return via Tyninghame, the stunning view out over the Forth - with Isle of May and Bass Rock - at 0400, then N Berwick and the coast road to breakfast at Mimi's on the Shore at 0700.

Superb arrangements by Kim and Ulli H, a number of riders doing their first ever 100km and a good great time was had by all !

Just started a new thread about feedback on EdFoC we also have a survey running which will help develop the festival (if people give us feedback that is).

Had some of that pop up ballet stuff outside work the other day. Would say, do not book them again, IMO

It would appear that the response to the feedback survey has been so great it has crashed the survey at Heriot Watt which is running it...

    PART ONE

Thanks to Scoosh for patiently leading us safely out on the 'Full Value" Night Ride to Dunbar and back.

The section near Traprain Law in the almost total dark was a highlight of the year - particularly as we were doing this narrow and twisty single track on the reclined Nazca tandem.

Dunbar seemed to come up a lot quicker than I expected but Scoosh's time estimates were spot on. Richard, my co-pilot, explained that due to lack of visual indicators in the dark you do suffer a lapse in time. (This of course is meat and drink to Audaxers and our ride would be barely two stages - never mind!)
Some people on other rides opted to go down to harbour but most of our group were happy to head into the community hall.

What a great welcome and effort Cycling Dunbar had put on! Tea, coffee a choice of spicy and non-spicy veggie hot snack in a bowl with the most delicious home made bread. Most cyclists heaped both in and liked what they had Much of it locally sourced.

Please consider a donation to the charity they support.

    PART TWO

Thanks to EdFoC for organising. Special thanks to Scoosh, Andy? and other leaders. Thanks to Tracy Griffen for use of her shop. Thanks to Leith Cycle for broom wagon and repairs.
Big thanks to Cycling Dunbar https://www.facebook.com/DunbarCycling

Thanks to Mimi's at Leith for great breakfast... Our pics are here.

In time-honoured CCE tradition, I am unable to complete a survey without offering some 'feedback':

I've always been advised by survey design/quants experts to put the personal details q's at the end.

I believe there's evidence that it puts people off answering, whereas if they've answered all the meaty q's then hit the personal ones, they tend to plough on.

In addition to SRD's comments clarifying what you mean by the first part of the postcode by saying first 3 characters seems strange. There's plenty of 2 and 4 letter ones around.

Does HW allow the option to add a back button to their surveys?

A bit more feedback on the survey. :-)

The fourth event rating section needs the correct categories (entertainment, venue, etc.).
