Limited to 70mph

    I wondered if this was a reflection of the laissez faire attitude to otherwise-law-abiding casual speeding nowadays. I've seen a surprising number of vans and small coaches this year wearing rear door stickers that say "This vehicle is limited to 70mph", with a big 70 symbol.

    Did they increase the speed limit when I wasn't watching? Or is it supposed to be a subtle "don't misjudge your skill level and try to overtake" warning?

    I have always thought they were one of things things which is supposed to make other drivers drive less homicidally in a sort of "please don't kill me, it is not my fault I can only go at 70mph" type way.

    Speed limits for vans (Good veh under 7.5 tonnes is 60 on A roads, but 70 for Motorways.

    The urban M8 gantries sometimes have a limit of 50 mph posted on them… which is of course the limit for the road anyway.
