Looks pitch black on my iPad. Not sure why but it is at no 29

Aye. Doesn't look particularly wide in that photo, but the photo is a few years old, so possibly pre-widening. Or might just be deceptive.

    Thanks!

    Any others?

@Arellcat - where can you fit the torpedo?

@Frenchy, bit of an expansive question, but it's all to do with turning radius and occasionally to do with width/length.

Off the top of my head I can do the chicane at Cramond Brig, the staggered gates to the west of Edinburgh Park station, the tram level crossings to the east of EDP and the one at Stenhouse, the chicane at Balgreen Road, the chicane at Groathill/Craiglieth (requires a 3-point turn), the easternmost of the two chicanes at the back entrance to Heriot-Watt Uni, and the infra around St Leonards (with much corner-cutting). I can also just manage the underpass under the A720 at Edinburgh Park.

By contrast, the chicane on NCN1 at Cramond Road South is only just possible, with millimetres to spare. The manoeuvre from Seafield Street to the path to Portobello Prom requires a 3-point turn. The jink around the A8 south cycle path at Ratho Station footbridge requires a 3-point turn. The zigzag ramp at Russell Road requires me to climb out to lift the back end and swinging it around each corner. The zigzag ramp at the West Approach Road/Upper Grove Place is impossible. All the road crossings on the Innocent, east of Duddingston Road West, are impossible. The road crossings on Broomhouse Road and South Gyle Access are impossible (but I've always used the road anyway). The southernmost chicane on Killikrankies Path at SQ/Dalmeny is impossible.

That's a pretty good list and covers any I would mention. The last (Dalmeny) one is really poor as it's newly installed.

There's a Scottish Government standard on chicane design isn't there? (I've lost the link to it) Who are these petty bureaucrats (like the one mentioned up thread) who feel they can just override the standard for their own ill-informed reasons and install this crap?

@ih - yes, the document is Cycling by Design.

Thanks @Frenchy - that's the one. I also extract from that document the first sentence in that section that deals with access controls; chicanes and rumbles

    6.5 Access Controls
Access controls on cycle routes should be avoided wherever possible, and only used where there is a proven requirement.

"Proven requirement." Nothing in the FoI answers above indicates they even assessed the requirement, let alone found it proven.
