Anyone can ride a bike, right?

Without denying the list of hurdles to riding a bike, there are a similar list that could be made for driving or owning a car, just that the barriers are (mostly) lower for cycling.
I'm sure Hans Rosling has been referenced before on CCE - he had an interesting graphic on transport choices as part of his "Don't Panic" lecture. Around 32-38 minutes there's a discussion of transport choices ranging from shoe/bicycle/motorbike/car/plane (on an exponential scale).
Perhaps that analysis doesn't apply to the 1st world, but there has been a bit of discussion of pavement cyclists on BSO that don't fit the middle-class image of, for example, current UK cycling. Dave Horton has posted on this topic, I think.
Always interesting none-the-less, to explore previously unexamined privilege, prejudice or bias!
