    So, how do other people handle their partners coming home with bits of wisdom like 'did you know they've put a chicane on the path down to Cramond'?

    "Yes, I saw it on CCE" should be sufficient.

    Alternatively,

    "You should check if it's been mentioned on CCE - if not you should post something."

    How to respond if Madame IWRAT's whispers 'did you know they've put a chicane on the path down to Cramond?'?

    I should reply that them's gentle, lovin' words, darlin' and move matters swiftly towards the boudoir.

    Since most of my comments will be in the form of emails (the penalty of living a plane ride apart), they are easily digested and responded to with sympathy and without either side having to decide when the cycling conversation has gone on too long!
