Garmin have dropped David Millar from what was due to be his final Tour. Big story on Radio Scotland Newsdrive this evening*...

    * - I don't notmally tune in but the wall to wall Glaston on 6music, plus wall to wall WW1 on World Service, getting very annoying.

Judging by the TV coverage of the weekend's national championships, Millar wasn't in particularly good form/health.

Neither Millar or Dowsett, I read somewhere yesterday (though where exactly escapes me).

"In years past we have approached the Tour with multiple leaders, and multiple goals," team CEO Jonathan Vaughters said. "This year, we approach it with one clear leader, Andrew Talansky, and our roster is designed to give him the best support possible. We are very sorry to leave David Millar home due to illness."

Don't know who of the big guns are scheduled in for the Vuelta but if it's a case of 'last chance saloon' for a number of bigger British names then it might have the potential to be more interesting than another Chris Froome procession.

Will Millar be at the Commie Games?

Anyway, I struck up a conversation with a French lady in the Porty Scotmid this morning (as you do). She wondered 'what the hell' the Grand Départ was doing in Leeds: "Why??!!!" I explained Yorkshire had won the bid over Edinburgh: she was much more enthusiastic about the idea of le Tour starting in Edinburgh, her adopted home. She was about to leave on holiday to her birthplace, "I will be IN le Tour." However, she also said that growing up she was taken to watch le Tour "religiously every July". "It was one of the reasons I left France".

    Oh.

For the record, I was going to be ready for the Tour, so sad my team didn't believe in me, after everything we've been through. Not cool.
