Edinburgh Castle: £16
Stirling Castle: £14
Tower of London: £22
Conclusion? Things are priced differently through out the country? Stirling Castle is heavily subsidised? Castles are bloody expensive to visit with kids...
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

This is what I really want in the Meadows - (remember there used to be a padding pool?
Sluice paddles are for kids to turn to make their own waterworld - bit like the one in the Water of Leith Centre only bigger!

What is the Common Good?
This is the question. In some places, the common good is “The air we breath” – “The sky above us” and such like. But in Scotland it is very unique. Because, our Common Good is actually protected by laws and consists of lots of valuable assets, such as land, property, art, jewels and the like—and all the things we get into free—that is part of our common good to. So we (the public) own these valuables in perpetuity so our kids and their kids can get the benefit of them to.

Unless we decide we are going to build a school on it of course....
Or indeed rent it out for Fringe shows during the summer...
The basic principle that a commercial operator should pay a commercial rent is a sound one IMHO.
Where events are free or heavily subsidised and no profiteering is going on, I have no issue with a nominal or zero rent being charged.
@Bikeability - I think the Meadows tennis courts are free to use from the start of September onwards (so not long now)
Bet they will be charged more than £600 a day in Glasgow.

ONE of the festival’s biggest annual attractions is preparing to quit the Capital after a host of rival acts made bids to take over its prime location.
The Ladyboys of Bangkok have been a Fringe fixture for 16 years, but higher rents being charged for their Meadows spot could price them out.
Council officials believe the site could raise three times as much as demanded at the moment and a bidding war has already kicked off.
"
That'll at least settle the question as to whether or not rent increases will be passed onto the punter. The "market" has clearly decided the spot is more valuable than the previous rent.
Aye, it's more expensive to ruin the grass of the meadows these days. Riff raff need not apply.

The show was pipped by major Fringe promoters Underbelly for the lucrative site in a new competitive bidding process introduced to generate more revenue to reinvest in city parks.
