    Comments are as depressing as the source articles are interesting.

    Climate scepticism is still rife among the Tory parliamentary party, according to a new poll of MPs.

    More than twice as many Conservative MPs as Labour MPs who responded to the poll cast doubt on scientists having “conclusively proved” climate change is caused by humans, despite the world’s most authoritative panel of climate scientists last year saying they were 95% that recent global warming is manmade.

    With her new book, This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs The Climate, Klein hopes to set off the kind of powerful mass movement that could – finally – produce the radical changes needed to avoid a global warming catastrophe and fix capitalism at the same time. She argues that we have all been thinking about the climate crisis the wrong way around: it’s about capitalism – not carbon – the extreme anti-regulatory version that has seized global economies since the 1980s and has set us on a course of destruction and deepening inequality.

    Things can change even in our system when the rich are inconvenienced;

    In December of next year, world leaders will come together in Paris at the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference in the hopes of negotiating a strong and binding international agreement to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that are warming our planet. The stakes couldn’t be higher - or the need for decisive action more urgent.

    Much as I like Apple/products, I think this is a bit 'optimistic'.

    Apple CEO Tim Cook shares 'optimistic' views on reversing climate change & selling green products to consumers

    Taking part in the Climate Week NYC kickoff on Monday, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook expressed a self-described "optimistic" outlook on his company's ability to affect climate change, saying that he believes that consumers, when given the choice, will do the right thing and buy green products.

    The global economy is undergoing a remarkable transformation which is altering our ability to deal with climate change. The growth of emerging economies, rapid urbanisation and new technological advances are making possible a new path of low-carbon growth in ways that were not apparent even five years ago.

    We know that if left unchecked, greenhouse gas emissions will cause devastating climate change. What is now becoming clear is that reducing emissions is not only compatible with economic growth and development; if done well, it can actually generate better growth than the old high-carbon model.

    Well, the properly green thing to do would be to wait until your old phone has worn out before buying a new one. But Apple are never going to encourage that!

    Meanwhile in "oil rich" Scotland, the mantra is dual carriageways galore, and bypasses for all.

    Worried about greehouse gases? Just install a few electric car charging points, buy some hybrid buses and Bob's your uncle.

    Can anyone look at this graph for more than a few seconds without engaging in displacement behaviour?

    It should really be the backdrop to every single news report on television.
