    Bored with the referendum?

    Worried about the result?

Fear ye not.... the NMS have asked Laid Back Bikes to empty out the shop and let Recombodan drive it out in his Murray Moves van.

We've an early start (8am at shop) and chances are will be tandeming out (possibly with someone on this forum). We will also be cycling back at end of afternoon.

It's usually good fun with a wide range of things to do and see. Our stall is beside the Comet Airliner as far as we know - was last year.

There is probably free entry for velomobilists. ;-)

I hope to come along, but currently I'm having a cold and my ankle is playing up as well. Boo!

I'll be there again. Am I stoking the Quetzel or will I get there by other means?

Possibly co-piloting this monster machine. Reckon your power input will be useful! Can stick.your solo in van if you like!
If I know there are other reclined bikers arriving I can try and ask for clearance from NMS. On the day it's pretty busy.

There is life after the IndyRef.

Just thought I'd give this a nudge up the topics. Weather looks good.

I think we'll have a shot at pedalling out /train back.

    See some of you there!

(Hoping the £4 parking price doesn't include bikes....)

Whee! That was fun. Follows a cycle streets route. Got going at 8.50. Had tea and tunnocks caramel logs at 9.50 on the shore at prestongrange. Then carried on into port seton, crossed the rail line at a level crossing and then a wee road through to Bangly Hill - this was just lovely. Then past the hometown monument and athelstaneford to East fortune. We spent a fair bit of time checking the map up until we got to the monument (after which it was well signposted). Now that we know it, it should be easier. In the past we've trained to Drem then cycled. But this was lovely and we got to. East fortune just before 12.

Not bad for a 7yo and 3yo. All our bikes had 20" wheels, and once again we could really see the effects of the Beinn small gear ratios and shirt cranks. Her poor legs were spinning madly even when the rest of us were coasting.

A good afternoon - even had a few punters on our tandem in addition to the one that laidback had taken.

many, many thanks to recombodna for trucking our bikes back, leaving us free to hop on a train to haymarket for Chop Chop's first serving - their food then is always miles better than later in the night. And also to Laidback for letting us dump our panniers and bikes with him while we checked out the rest of the show.

Very happy but tired family tonight,

(Someone tooted and waved in port Seton anyone here?)

    Thanks to all.

Recombodna for combining transport, his own child care and helping out at the LB launch pad.

Uberuce for endless patience and adjustments of bikes and helmets and coping with the overturned trike incident (Rabid Hamster's loan ICE - ouch). No damage done to rider and only a scrape on chaingaurd.

After that we became really busy - nothing like perceived danger to boost interest? ;-).

Thanks to SRD and family for lending their bike and helmets. Well done on what is quite an ambitious cycle for smaller legs!

Some photos posted on Flickr and will link here tomorrow.

That's the fourth year for us out there. We are almost as popular as the Owls in Hanger 2!

I had repeated my sincerely held belief that a trike was impossible to tip in the kind of riding it'd get on the short bit of runway that it had become part of the patter as I was adjusting bunnets and booms for the punters.

We're still not sure how the lad managed it.

The Quetzel is silly comfy, not least because I didn't have to put any mental effort in.

    Kudos to the mini-SRDs indeed.

Some pics from the day. SRD I think we have one of your helmets and v/v.
