I know there was a thread a while back that had many people agreeing on who the best wheel builder in Edinburgh was, but my searching skilz are failing me. Therefore, who is the best bicycle wheel builder to go to if I want a new wheel built?

I am not interested in building a wheel myself at this moment in time. From speaking to people who have built a wheel (or 4), it certainly appears to be a skill that takes a long time to master. I have not the time for it right now!

I got my touring wheels built at the bicycle works and am very happy with them. There's also the excellent reputation of wheelcraft:

A friend of mine and well known bike fettler/builder in the CX/Mtb/race scene is starting out as a wheel builder. He's pretty good and fast as well as very accommodating. Might be worth going to him and investigating what he can do for you.

Fraser at The Happy Cog has re-trued a wheel for me recently. He knows his stuff, having spannered bikes in various interesting places over the years. Give him a shout - he is doing it from home at Bilston and now has accounts with various companies for hubs and rims.

I have only good experiences in wheel building from Bicycle Works (Marchmont) and Harts Cyclery (Corstorphine).

We can build wheels at Eastside Bikes. Give us a call if you would like to discuss.

    Thanks
