For bicycle diehards, the CycloCable may seem like a cop-out. But the system, which costs about as much as a bike lane to install, could encourage more cyclists on intimidating topography. A 2007 survey of Trondheim bike lift users found that 41 percent were biking more often because of the lift.

Well there was a serious suggestion for the previous version of the Trondheim 'lift' to be installed.

It would work up until some git parked their car next to it, or worse still stopped and waited in the car blocking the ride up but sitting in their veh while they block the lift.... Plus it would mean removing parking from one side. or worse moving it out meaning peds would block it with refuse... Nah can't see it.

You'd need to close the end of Albany Street, which would have the added benefit of stopping that street being used as a rat run.

Sorry, when I say "rat run" I really mean "arterial route" [designation dependent on whether you are a resident or the Council].
