    Colon cancer.

"If UK trends in obesity and activity stayed as they are now, the predicted figure of approximately 35,000 cases a year is reached by 2040."

"And if the UK managed to match levels of physical exercise in The Netherlands - the best among the countries studied, that would prevent approximately 2,000 cases."

Cycling isn't actually mentioned, but... earlier this morning the story was illustrated with a picture of a large bike park somewhere in the Netherlands.

    Wonder why they changed it?

Well, if you take up cycling you'll invariably be run over by a car, and if you avoid that fate, fall off on your own account and die horribly that way.

So long as cycling is seen as something dangerous that requires special survival equipment / training (carefully not mentioning any specifics), you could perhaps argue that the rational decision for most people *is* to get sedentary and fat and die early of preventable disease.

Because a violent death in the near future makes even that look like a good outcome :)
