(That's 3p a mile for some people!)
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

That's considerably more than 3p a mile given the limited mileage I do...
At this rate I'll need to sell the bike and drive everywhere in order to get my money's worth. (!)
It's something of a blunt instrument, given that it will not impact anyone with a driveway/garage to park their car on/in, anyone who commutes into town in these bigger vehicles, or indeed commercial vehicles. It will, however, impact people who don't use the vehicle on a daily basis, causing no pollution most of the time. But if you own a band 5 vehicle then chances are you can afford an extra £160 a year (it's not much more than a tank of diesel now) and so this price banding is unlikely to cause behavioural change or downsizing.
It's hardly road pricing, is it? To my mind, that's the only way to flag the direct cost per car journey to motorists.
The cost of a permit should be a function of the efficiency of the vehicle plus its footprint (i.e. length x width) - bigger cars use more space, smaller cars use less space. Likewise, you get small, overpowered, inefficient cars. You also get large cars that are efficient
I have a driveway AND a massive gas guzzling van so up yours Edinburgh council!!!
Comment no59 is the best comment ever.
59 is better! :D
"59 is better"
I prefer irony to surreal irony...
Those are genuinely funny, a welcome change form the usual EEN spoutings of nonsense (see #92 - it's all the fault of too many buses apparently. £320 seems like a bargain for a permit to park a busi n the controlled zones)
