He cycled to work this morning (an hour for 10 miles) and talked quite positively about it on his show.

Says he'd do it again but 'needs to be fitter'.

Complained about potholes and dual carriageways.

Said he didn't see any cycle paths - obviously needs a Glasgow Spokes map.

Do it again and he'll get fitter... continue until it's easy, then keep going! ;-)

Steveo - I agree. Its like lifting weights I could never understand why the weights never got any lighter. Its not that they get lighter its just you can lift more easier.

He looks a bit over dressed, and I don't just mean the obvious thing, it's not nearly cold enough for tights yet. Jacket and gloves already? I've got a fleecy on in the morning but the afternoons are just t-shirts and it's shorts all the way.

I never liked using the extra straps on a rucksack.

Saddle looks a bit low too.

    Who is he?

I believe it is a Mr Frederick Mcauley, I understand he presents a light entertainment show on the wireless... obviously his jacket was to keep his shirt and bow tie clean and the rucksack was for his jacket and trousers so he may change into more appropriate atire before his programme...

Ahhh, I've heard him on the Light Programme.

Well it's good that more people ride bikes but it's not really an event.

Paxo rides round London. I saw him when i stayed down there 20 yrs ago. He doesn't make a big deal of it.

Quite. He doesn't really help "the cause" by making it such a bl**dy mission to cycle 10 miles.

It should have been "threw a few things in a bag, donned (optional) polystyrene bonedome, jumped on the steed and hey, presto! before I knew it I was in the office"

We all have to start somewhere. I think another DJ - is it Brian Boyd at Radio Scotland is also keen on having a lot of kit to cycle in. Good that more people are cycling and I think a certain MAMIL demographic goes for completeness in kit purchase as an assist to actually jump start the campaign. So all in all quite positive.

I have switched to long sleeved jersey with t-shirt underneath, but still in shorts. Could have put the heating on last night it was so cold in the house but poured myself an armangnac and got a blanket out. No heating til October.

    The memsahib has a Slanket.

I've got the bottom half zipped on to my Kiwis this morning and I got some lined Kiwis at GoOutdoors during the week.
