It’s fair to say that, for all the government promises of a “cycling revolution”, not a vast amount has happened in recent years to improve the lot of cyclists on British roads. Campaigns, pestering MPs, direct action – nothing seems to have worked.

One of the things I picked up on from this (and commented below the line about) is the discussion around discrimination laws and their application to cycling infrastructure problems.

These stupid gates and chicanes on cycle paths are a big bugbear of mine and I would love to see someone who is a handcycle or trike or even kiddy trailer user challenging their local authority and/or Sustrans under this legislation. If any CCE-ers are aware of this having already happened then please point me in the right direction for more info. I'm pushing against an open door with some important individuals at my district council, but giving them some solid ammunition to use at county level would be most helpful.
