Actually, maybe just SLOW DOWN would beat CYCLISTS SLOW?

they could quite sensibly put some shared use markers in - i would prefer ones in the ground/tarmac to on poles. and other ways of signalling issues.
big issue for me is the ridiculously adhockery of the signage. no consistency.

There was a society formed to object to street clutter and signage proliferation. I saw a sign somewhere about them. The pole in the picture would appeal to them as it is over egging the pudding.
Actually cut through the park today on the diagonal from shandon margiotta End, tiny space at the dropped kerb that I managed to get through, often car parked right across. One car parked adjacent to bins so sticks out. Path quite frosty so took it slowly. I saw no signs

Took a stroll past these signs last night and yes. Over The Top much? To simply appease one person who has complained? I am going to complain about dog excrement and see if signs get put up.... Anyone else up for it? Gavin C inbox bomb coming up...

Public Service Announcement:
It remains socially acceptable to homogeneously demonise people getting about on bikes.
Public Enemy #2

How about removing the "S" from "SLOW" and arranging regular group rides of recumbent bicycles and children around the park? Of course the signs will still look decidedly horrible, but at least it would then become fairly amusing.

@jdanielp
A Cyclists Low-Down sign would be ideal situation to place information about cycling and how to start.

A Cyclists Hoedown sign might make Harrison Park a focus for musical improvised comedy harking back to Whose Line is it Anyway?
Posted 10 years ago # -
Whereas a Cyclists Sloe-Down sign might encourage passing pedallists to distill a tasty gin to sell to other park users and promote feelings of goodwill to all.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Meanwhile, a Cyclists: Moe Down sign would announce an accident befalling the bartender from the Simpsons.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Cyclists: Doe Down would be a sad entry in the Wildlife Highlight of the Day thread.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Tenuously, Cyclists: Low Down might warn that stocks of non-man-made upholstery fillings/insulation materials were almost fully-depeleted.

It seems likely that any remaining ice will be gone by the end of today, but the relocation of some Cyclists ow ow signs to places where cyclists are at risk of falling on ice may be useful during the next cold snap.

Cyclist slow down signs now on every tree and pole around the park. What a laff
Posted 10 years ago # -
A cyclists go down sign might alert people to the se..... Ach never mind.....

So: are they official/authorised? I can't quite work it out from here. If they're *not*, then they're officially litter. Voice of POP postering encounter with CEC wardens ...
Posted 10 years ago # -
oh yeah, they're official, as in put up by city official responsible for the park. and because they can just make up whatever signs they want. and put them up.

@SRD is Percy The Park Keeper still doing his rounds? Every tree and every pole, he must have been puffed out at the end of the shift. The yellow ones carry no identifying insignia and they are littered on any vertical item.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Don't think Percy would approve of litter.

It is winter. After his day's work Percy prepares for the coldest night to come. The night is a lot colder than the animals expected and all the snow is making it hard to find shelter. They all decide to spend the night at Percy's hut and finally the Mole and Robin turn up.

they're official
So there's a fair shout that these signs will be official enough to be costed to the council cycling budget pot, hmm ?

A much better sign from elsewhere

Scottish Canals official sign by LaidBackBikes, on FlickrPosted 10 years ago # -
Bit surprised to see all signs seemed to be still in place yesterday.
It is not known if this person paid any attention -
I think far more people on bikes join the canal here rather than cycle the full length of this path.

I used to live near Harrison Park but haven't been for ages until I passed through yesterday. A once pleasant and relaxing leafy green space now feels like a building site. Perhaps they should also chop down the trees to stop children climbing them.

Boyfriend and I were "amused" by the "Slow Down" sign on the uphill side of the tree...

@CyclingEdin @AndrewDBurns @davidfkeySNP @gavincorbett @LAHinds The signs are temporary & placed out due to recent incidents. They'll be removed after the end of the financial year & situation assessed.

I second the 'control your dog' signs. Mr SRD and our 4 year old were chased by an aggressive dog this morning. Owner not in control.

Yes, Boyfriend of Fimm and I were (slightly optimistically) enjoying a glass of wine in the Park on Friday evening and were remarking that the signs were gone.
I also noticed that no one had parked on the double yellows at the bottom of the hill, which was nice.
