My friend has been suffering foot pain for several months and the GP has just confirmed a Googled diagnosis of plantar fasciitis. There is a wait of about 8 weeks to see the NHS podiatrist so she is going to make an appointment with a private clinic.

Can anyone recommend a podiatrist in Central/West Edinburgh?

And has anyone here had this condition? Any advice other than "grin and bear it?"

Freeze a small bottle of water and use it as a foot roller.

Get something to massage the foot with - a tennis ball is good enough, or you can get rollers or balls designed for the purpose.

EDIT LivD beat me too it and the frozen bottle is one I've seen elsewhere.

+1 for LivD I did this when I had PF and after the initial coldness pain it really works but look to do it 3 times a day if possible.

I have this at the moment. Ditto the frozen bottle for under-foot massage.
