CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
I'm interested in the workstand. 3 year warranty if it falls apart. I'm sure it can't be of any a lesser quality than the EBC one.
I like how the computer includes temperature and calories used.
Yeah stay away from the lidl computers.Mine and my wifes both lasted about a year then died.........sniff sob!
At £3 it's still a bargain! Mine is still working more reliably than the expensive wireless sigma on my roadbike (grrr)
Maybe it's a different one. Mine was £25...........hrmfph! My £6 tesco one still going though.
To be honest the stand looks better than the EBC one (which I have owned for a few years) - it might be flimsy and crap in practice but the photos show a better layout of legs and also a nifty handlebar-straightening device...
I'm sure it can't be of any a lesser quality than the EBC one.
That good, eh? That's possibly why mine is made by Park, rather than Marwi. But any workstand beats crouching on the floor for hours!
I don't mind the EBC stand really - it's not very useful for the recumbent, but otherwise it does the trick (mainly used for things like recabling which are fiddly but not forceful).
I fitted new cranks to my MTB following on from my recent smash. Not sure I would have cared to try that in the EBC stand, I had to jam the bike in a corner of the stairwell to get it secure enough to haul on!
If I ever get a garage I'm going to get a proper Park shop stand that is bolted to the floor...
continuing the theme of cheap cycly bits, I was making a once in a decade trip into a Poundstretcher today as part of my mission to buy a wicker basket no larger than 16x16x8" and came away with a magnetic parts bowl for £1.99 (The blue Park Tool one going for c. £7.99)
Our exiled friend spytfyre thought we might like to know that there are "2 bikestands left in Leith after I got one when there were none left in Dalry"
I looked in South Clerk St. but there was nothing bikey whatsoever.
Damn damn damn! Completely forgot about this - I wonder if there are any bikestands left in Musselburgh...
Ach I've managed 30 odd years without a workstand ......here's to the next 30 odd years.
I might be nipping out round that way this afternoon. I'll have a quick look.
@recombodna
That's pretty much how I felt about workstands until I got one. Now I don't know how I ever managed without it! Just getting a bit old and creaky and, well, broken now.
@Cyclingmollie
Fingers crossed!
Hi anth, sorry but they are all gone. There are plenty of cycle computers, gloves, mini foot-pumps, children's h*****s, saddle mount tool-kits and a few tops. I couldn't even see where the price ticket had been for the workstands.
Damn! Hmmm, wonder where else I can look....
Granton Lidl is sometimes a good bet as it's a bit remote, but again it's a bloody big dogleg for you.
I get the impression they only had one or two per shop.
You could always 'phone...
Just getting a bit old and creaky and, well, broken now.
you or the work stand ah ha ha ha ah ha!! I kill myself!! sorry dude!
I'd actually LOVE a work stand.........Building up a lovely old PUCH 531 racer at the mo for "sportifs"

magnetic parts bowl for £1.99 in Poundstretcher - what sort of pound shop is that?
My dear departed dad used to make me laugh, he would say, I've just been up the pound shop in Ayr High Street, I got four of these screwdrivers, guess how much they cost?

it certainly stretched my pound. All the way to £1.99 it did.
