Anyone going to this in May? It has had a couple of previous mentions in the archives.

My capoeira group (Mao No Chao) were asked to perform & teach there last year and I really enjoyed it. We've been asked back again so I'll be going and want to cycle this time.

Our first event is 2pm Friday so I'll probably set off on Thursday. Any takers?

Dougal you have been in darkest Ayrshire. Loch Doon near dalmellington has a WW2 aircraft submerged.. The roads out of Ayr are fairly radial so the A713 is the way to dalmellington via Patna. Nothing much until St. John's town of Dalry in Dumfries and Galloway. The legendary sawney bean had a hideout in dalmellington. Also some sort of hole he used to fling people down.

Possibly the loch is now devoid of aircraft...

Nice link and of course the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

I must have visited the loch on either side of the spitfire coming out

The railway from Ayr to dalmellington, freight only now if anything, was built in 1840s as part of the push to loch Ryan to catch the ferry to norn irn. That seems to have made various companies go bust but the line was viable with an iron works at dalmellington but that also went kaput.

Saw no spitfires and though I was tempted by the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre I did not inhale. They were pimping pretty hard too: they clearly guessed that lots of people would be driving past them on Monday and had a "we're open specially today" sign on my return journey.
