Well, Lesley is "urging" Scottish Power to complete the job, so that should do it, eh?

  3. Vodafone is digging up a section down Burgess Street onto the Shore right now, and from what they were doing yesterday it looks suspiciously like they'll not be putting the setts back and doing a tarmac patch-up.

Of course, I could be wrong.

(To be honest, given the state of the setts already on the Shore, I'd prefer to see the whole lot ripped up and a proper tarmac surface put down. The council has already admitted to us in writing that the Shore setts can't - and will never be able to - cope with the heavy bus traffic that thunders along it).

I'm the so called "disgruntled resident" mentioned in the article. Didn't hear anything from "local businesses" about this issue. Think they'd complain more if they did actually dig up the tarmac again to relay the sets.

As far as I know contractors are supposed to put the road back the way it was beforehand, using same materials. This explains why sometimes you'll see a contractor dig a small section, replace the tarmac to a good standard, then paint road markings etc over the new section - even though the road markings on the rest of the street have worn out.

For Burges Street it's worth dropping an email to your local neighbourhood partnership and CC'ing councillors.

The council should just do it, and bill Scottish Power.
